Poetry

The golden grain of our dreams,
Sown, reaped in our hearts,
Distress your brother, your daughter compassion,
Our nights filled with your rich gleam.

Fountain and talisman, the garden of stillness,
The starry world of darkness;
Beyond climes, eternal spring,
In seasons, endless morrows.

Within us, boundless choppy seas,
Smiling, the face of fate,
We are in the golden garden of stars,
Your eternity we touch.

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar (1901-1962). Şiir. Translated from the Turkish.
