Someone

There is something between us;
Obvious from your looks,
From my burning face.
Sometimes we stare into space,
Both of us have the same thought perhaps;
We start talking with smiles.
There is something between us,
Which as we find, willingly we lose.
No matter how much we hide, no use.
There is something between us,
On the tip of my tongue,
Shining in your eyes.

Nahit Ulvi Akgün (1918-1996). Birisi. Translated from the Turkish.
